Hi fellow nail polish lovers!! Happy Thursday! Anyone else happy the weekend is almost here?
I finally decided to try a splatter mani after wanting to do it for a long time. I was in the mood for something different and fun. I know what you're thinking. Two nail art posts in a row? This girl is on a roll! LOL.
First, the polishes I chose:
I used Alexandra's "Hot" Gray as my base and taped around my nails. I then used a small straw (stirrer) to blow Fly and Pier 17 on my nails. Here's a pic of the materials and mess :-/.
I had to be careful and wait a few seconds after dipping the straw in the bottle. That allowed some of the polish to drain out. If there's too much polish in the straw, it just creates a big blob, like you'll see on my middle finger.
After blowing the two colors on the nail, I finished it off with a coat of Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat.

My pinky was my favorite because the polish spread out more. I like the way it turned out for my first time, but I have to continue to practice doing it and play around with many other colors.
I must say, I wore this mani for two days and thought it was really fun, but the conservative part of me would look at them every once in a while and say "this looks like a HOT MESS!" Lol!! I'm really glad I tried it though. I'll definitely be doing it again.
What do you guys think? Have you tried a splatter mani before? Any tips?
I've never done a splatter because I'm afraid of the possible mess... haha!
ReplyDeleteI like your design a lot, though! I love the colours ^^
xx
Thanks so much hon!! I know what you mean about being afraid of the mess. It's the reason it took me so long to try it, lol.
DeleteGorgeous!!!!!!
ReplyDelete-Nancy Arnold ;-)
Thanks honey!! Glad you like it!
DeleteI love it! I did one with a nude as base and blood red as splatter for Halloween. The scared looks I got that day in the shopping mall were pricesless! :)
ReplyDeleteLOLOL!!!! I can imagine!
DeleteI actually like that the splatter stayed near the top; it actually looks deliberate. Great color choices too! I've never done this myself so I have no tips, but to be honest, I don't think you need any!
ReplyDeleteAwww.. Thanks Amanda!
DeleteLoved your color choices!
ReplyDeleteThanks hon!
DeleteThis is so cool looking! I'm definitely going to have to try this out! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely fun creating it. Thanks Alana!
DeleteThis is gorgeous! Great job!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nory!
DeleteThis is sooo pretty!! I love the colours you chose for it! :D If splatter manis weren't such a pain for clean up, I'd probably do more of them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashley!! Even though it's messy, it's still fun!
DeleteThis is awesome! Great job!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tara!
Deleteoh can you belive I've never tried a splatter mani!! it looks cool, I should try!
ReplyDeleteYou should hon. It's cool to see the mani come to life!
DeleteIt turned out great! I'm scared to try this--I can see myself scrubbing polish off the floor and the table and my skin and everything. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen! Funny enough, your visual is the same one I had before trying it, lol. But it wasn't as bad.
DeleteGreat color combination and very nice spreading of the colors! I haven't tryed the splatter yet, I'm too afraid I'm going to splatter the polishes on the walls, floor, table etc :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Ina!! Ina at the mess everywhere. It's not so bad. I think you should try it. It was definitely fun.
DeleteBeing your first try, I think this came out great! I'm intimidated to do stuff like this because I feel like it'll turn out to be a mess. But good job with yours!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Melissa!
DeleteThis looks great! I can never get my splatter manis to work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Meredith! Hope you get it soon, it's so much fun!
DeleteSplatter mani's are so fun - I love the colours you used, it looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks Holly!!
DeleteI tried it with McDonald straws and all I got was big blobs. Now I got some smaller straws and will try again.
ReplyDeleteYours turned out wonderful and I love the colors :)
Thanks so much Rhonda! I think the smaller straws will definitely help.
Deleteso cute - great job!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteLove the colours you used! Great idea about the stirrers! I always thought the regular straws seem kinda too big. And to do the counter-intuitive thing of blowing rather than sucking through the straw?! LOL
ReplyDeleteLOL!! Yes, it's pretty cool! Thanks Susan!
DeleteI want to try a splatter mani!
ReplyDeleteYou should hon. It's fun!
DeleteI love the pinky finger! Blowing it to the side of the nail helps...then a bligger blob will go onto the skin and little fun stripes will get on the nail!
ReplyDeleteMe too! The pinky was my favorite. Thanks for the tip.
DeleteYay for more nail art!! This turned out amazing! I love the colors :D This looks so fun to do!
ReplyDeleteSure was fun to do. Glad you like it Traci ;0).
DeleteThis is a great first attempt!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deborah ;0)
DeleteIt came out great! I have yet to try a splatter mani. I'm not that brave when it comes to messy stuff like splatter or water marbling. I love this!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mihaela! Try it, I know you can do it ;0)
DeleteNot tried a splatter mani before, but love yours so much I guess I had better give it a whirl :)
