Hi fellow nail polish lovers!! It's
Pink Wednesday ;0).
For this Pink Wednesday, I decided to share Pink Friday from the Nicki Minaj collection by OPI. I picked this polish up with the other two I shared with you the day after Christmas. When I first saw swatches of Pink Friday, it immediately went on my wish list because it looked so pretty!! Also, pink is one of my favorite polish colors ;0).
Unfortunately, I was disappointed with Pink Friday when I applied it. First, the formula was so thick and difficult to work with. It was streaky on the first coat and it took 3 coats to level it out. For a creme, I wasn 't happy about that. I prefer 2 coats tops. My second gripe was with the color on me. I didn't really like the shade with my skin tone.
Here are a few pics (no base or top coat):

I was ready to give up on this polish. However, I decided to give it another try and added some polish thinner to it to see if it would make a difference. I'm so glad I did. This time, application was so much easier. The pics below are of 2 coats (no base or top coat):

Not only was the formula better, but I liked the color a little more. I guess it grew on me, IDK.
I then decided to layer
Save Me over Pink Friday. I think they go well together.

What do you guys think? Have you tried Pink Friday? Did you have any problems with the formula?
Sorry to hear about the formula being goopy! I haven't tried it. Very pretty! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks hon. It was much better with the thinner.
DeleteI skipped this coz I wasn't sure if I had a similar pink around. Glad thinner helped!
ReplyDeleteMe too ;0). I would have been very sad if it didn't.
DeleteShame about the formula...I've been getting more and more into OPI lately but that kinda turns me off Pink Friday since I don't have polish thinner and don't feel comfortable enough trying it out.
ReplyDeleteRegardless, I really do like this color on you. Completely pops on you so beautifully!
Thanks Amanda. It was actually much better with the thinner. I didn't have any at the time, but decided to pick up a bottle to see if it would help.
DeleteThis is pretty. I've been into these kinds of pinks lately, but everyone I have and find seems to be really thin and streaky. Maybe this goopy one just might be what I'm looking for.. lol..
ReplyDeleteSorry about the messed up formula, and I'm glad you made it work. She's pretty on you.
Thanks Lizzy! I'm glad I was able to make it work too. Hope you get the pink you're looking for.
DeleteI think it looks great on you and it looks amazing with the bar glitter on top!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mihaela!
DeleteI don't have this one but I realy love this shade
ReplyDeleteI really like it too.
DeleteIt looks pretty on you! I haven't really wanted this one, the lighter colors don't really work so well for me. I just might have to try this one though after seeing the glitter topcoat!
ReplyDeleteThanks Meredith!! I really like it with the top coat too ;0).
Deletethis pink really does pop on you. it's pretty! i have a confession, though..this whole collection didn't appeal to me at all. i felt like the colors have been done before. *runs and hides under desk* lol..
ReplyDeleteLOL, thanks! No need to run and hide Jessica. While I like what I got from the collection, I agree. There was nothing mind blowing about it.
DeleteThis looks beautiful on you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Alana ;0)
DeleteI'm so glad it was better after using the thinner! It does look like a pretty pink. Maybe since it wasn't applying that great at first made you not like the color lol. jk. IT does look good on you though :) Love it with Save Me!
ReplyDeleteI own Pink Friday too and swatched it recently on my blog. I ♥ the color, but I have a mini and I hated the application. I thought it was because of the little cap and brush. But maybe it is the polish which applies badly? IDK?
