Some of you may have already heard of nail art done with saran wrap. I've been meaning to give it a try for quite some time and finally got around to it. Basically what is done is you apply a base coat and you then use crumpled up saran wrap to apply a second, and sometimes third color to the nail. It gives a splatter effect.
I decided to use NYC Radio City Rose, which I shared with you last week as my base coat. I applied two coats of it. I waited a bit for it to dry (not too long because it's a fast dry polish). I then put a few drops of NYC Prospect Park Pink on a disposable plate and dabbed the saran wrap in it. I then dabbed the saran wrap on a clean area on the plate to take some of the excess polish off and applied it to the nail. There was no special technique to it, I just tried to get a good amount of coverage on the nail. Because I always love a little sparkle, I also added a bit of Elixir Lacquers Supa Sugar Bee with the saran wrap. I finished off the manicure with a coat of Seche Vite.

Two tips I definitely want to share are:
1. Give your base polish time to dry. If you don't when you're applying the second polish with the saran wrap, it will start to lift the base polish.
2. Be careful with the amount of polish you use. If you accidentally put a big blob on the plate, dip the saran wrap in it and dab it on the plate first a few times to get off the excess polish. Otherwise, you'll end up with that same big blob on your nail, which won't be a good look :-/.
Have you tried a manicure with saran wrap? What do you think of this look?
